His Holiness Vishnujana Swami, the blissful kirtan singer, beloved preacher, and renowned servant of Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha-Damodara, first joined the Krishna Consciousness movement in 1967 in San Francisco. He was initiated by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in 1968, and the renounced order of sannyasa was conferred on him in 1970. Vishnujana Swami came from a musical background, and was gifted with a rare talent for leading sweet kirtans and bhajans. Srila Prabhupada loved these very much, and once commented that he sang like a Gandharva (a celestial musician).
